POTHOLES
Project Overview
In response to persistent road holes challenges in Ngorongoro, this project focused on developing an efficient road network that enhances the city’s resilience to heavy rains. The works included the construction of reinforced concrete drainage channels, culverts, and other flood mitigation structures strategically placed across urban hotspots. By improving water flow and reducing surface flooding, the project safeguarded infrastructure, reduced road damage, and improved the quality of life for residents. It also supported urban growth and economic activities by ensuring the city remains accessible during rainy seasons. Pothole patching methods may be either temporary or semi-permanent. Temporary patching is reserved for weather conditions that are not favourable to a more permanent solution and usually uses a cold mix asphalt patching compound placed in an expedient manner to temporarily restore pavement smoothness. Semi-permanent patching uses more care in reconstructing the perimeter of the failed area to blend with the surrounding pavement and usually employs a hot-mix asphalt fill above replacement of appropriate base materials.
